Richard’s songs have appeared on ABC and NBC network television,
PBS, HBO, Muzak and DISH music services, as well as U.S. and
international radio and television (Australia, Canada, Croatia,
Germany, Singapore, South Korea, and Switzerland). His first
recorded song, “Prelude”, recorded by a Seattle artist in 1979, has
recently been used on Australian television. His first U.S. network
broadcast was in 1987 for “Underfire”, a song he co-wrote with the
late Seattle songwriter Rex Ovena. Richard's solo piano
composition,
“Solitude Bay”, is a frequently played song with
commercial music services such as Muzak. He was a recording artist
for the Pure & Simple Music record label in the 1990s. Richard's first
album, Oceans, a collaboration with pianist/producer Christopher
Peacock which Seattle Times music critic Melinda Bargreen called
“evocative...an aural getaway”, was released in 1990. It was a best-
seller for
Pure & Simple Music for many years.

Richard contributed songs to the Golden Door Spa/Pure & Simple
albums, and the soundtrack of the University of Chicago/Prairie
MultiMedia CD-ROM Frank Lloyd Wright: Complete Works. He wrote
the theme song for the
StyleFyle Show, which aired on COX-TV
Channel 13, Phoenix, in 2007. In 2009, Richard worked on his first film
soundtrack, writing and arranging the score for Hermonk
International Media’s No Way Back. He also co-wrote, with his long-
time collaborator Karen Walker, the song, “Fly With Angels” for the
soundtrack of the Robert Parham International Films release
The
Difference
. In 2012 Richard composed the score for the Future
Legends Productions film
The Last Dance, which was chosen for the
2013 Short Film Corner at the Cannes International Film Festival.

Richard’s compositions cover a wide variety of styles and genres.
He has written music for such projects as a TV commercial for the
Nevada ASPCA, a theatrical play for a Pacific Northwest repertory
company, and background music for three different video and stage
presentations featuring dancers (one for the Maui Visitors' Bureau,
and the latest featuring a dancer from the Joffrey Ballet for the
Sacramento Children's Self-Help Awareness Program). His recorded
music has been used in commercials and television shows.

After performing with Andrea Beaulieu for the first time in 2012,
Richard began writing songs with the electic New Thought/New Age
singer and lyricist. In 2013 they recorded and released
“One Heart,
One Mind”, an uplifting and inspirational song that they have since
performed numerous times in performances around the Valley of the
Sun. Richard co-wrote three songs with Catholic Christian recording
artist Julie Carrick for her 2014 album,
Lend Me Your Heart. In early
2015, Richard and Karen Walker recorded another of their songs,
“Where Dolphins Dance”, which was a long-time popular audience
favorite performed by—and also recorded by—Trio 380 in their
concert appearances.
